Mapo Tofu

Mapo Tofu is a very comforting dish. Its delicious and simple to make. Your kids will devour this is seconds! So will your husband!

  • 2 Cloves Minced Garlic
  • 1 Inch Minced Ginger
  • 2 Stalks Green Onion
  • 2 Pepper (Any pepper) (optional)
  • 14 oz Silken Tofu
  • 1 Pound Ground Pork
  • 1 Tsp. Oil
  • 2 ½ Tbs. Chili Bean Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Mirin
  • 1 Tbsp. Oyster Sauce
  • ½ Tbsp. Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tsp. Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tsp. Corn Starch
  • 4 Tbsp. Water
  • 1 Tbsp. Miso

Instructions

  1. Prepare minced garlic, minced ginger, green onion, pepper and set aside. Drain tofu and cut into cubes.
  2. Combine chili bean sauce, mirin, miso, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, potato starch and water into bowl. Water must be cold.
  3. In a pan, heat oil on medium-high heat. Sauté garlic, pepper and ginger.
  4. When garlic and ginger is golden brown, throw in the ground pork. Cook until pork is cooked thoroughly.
  5. Once ground pork is cooked, pour in the sauce. Let it sit till sauce bubbles.
  6. As soon as sauce bubbles, throw in tofu. Carefully fold tofu until its cooked.
  7. Serve Mapo Tofu on top of jasmine rice.

Notes

-Must use cold water in sauce or else the cornstarch will clump up together.

-Carefully fold tofu or else it will all apart and look messy.
